GM China Q2 Sales: Business Momentum Continues

Jul 3, 2026

SHANGHAI — General Motors achieved solid second-quarter sales of more than 357,000 units in China, supported by an improved product mix and resilient customer demand.

“Q2 sales demonstrate the momentum in our China joint ventures which is supporting sustainable growth," said John Roth, GM senior vice president and president of GM China.

New product launches in Q2 strengthened GM’s presence in higher-value segments, to drive towards profitable growth in China’s highly competitive auto market.

Leading the momentum was the Buick Electra E7 family SUV, the latest offering under Buick’s premium sub-brand for new energy vehicles (NEVs). In its first full month on the market, the E7 became one of Buick’s top-selling models, featuring intelligent technologies that include an advanced driver assistance system co-developed with Chinese tech company Momenta.

The Wuling Bin Guo, one of GM’s most successful NEV nameplates in China, further expanded its appeal following the launch of the Bin Guo Pro, which sold over 31,000 units in Q2, with a new five-seat configuration, longer all-electric range and enhanced standard features.

GM is also capitalizing on China’s fast-growing large SUV market with three-row six-seat NEVs across brands. Among the Q2 launches, the Baojun Huajing S quickly became the brand’s best-seller, with over 9,100 units sold in the quarter, by combining premium comfort, advanced technologies with accessible pricing while the Cadillac VISTIQ further elevated GM’s all-electric luxury offering.

GM’s sales on the Chinese market were also underpinned by the strong performance of its core nameplates and diversified NEV choices.

Premium MPVs remained a key pillar of GM’s business in China. The GL8 family posted combined sales of more than 22,000 units in Q2, including over 3,500 units from the ENCASA, the first MPV offering under Buick’s NEV sub-brand ELECTRA, available in both plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.

The Buick Envision family and Cadillac XT5 continued to anchor GM’s SUV portfolio, with sales of over 18,000 units and 10,000 units respectively in Q2. In the small EV segment, the Wuling Hong Guang MINIEV delivered more than 43,000 units in Q2 while the Wuling Bin Guo topped 51,000 units in sales. Both remained GM’s top-selling nameplates in China.
