GM Delivers 2.1 Million Vehicles in China in 2023

SHANGHAI – General Motors and its joint ventures delivered 2.1 million vehicles in China in 2023.

New energy vehicles (NEVs) across brands posted strong growth momentum, accounting for more than a quarter of total deliveries. Both the Ultium platform and SAIC-GM-Wuling’s GSEV platform continued to scale their lineups, as new entries quickly grew in popularity.

GM will continue its intensive NEV launch cadence in China in 2024. The Durant Guild, GM’s premium import business in China, will start taking pre-orders of two iconic full-size SUVs – the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon – this year.

2023 Sales by Brand

  • Cadillac deliveries surpassed 183,000 units in 2023. The CT5 luxury sedan sustained robust growth and remained Cadillac’s top-selling model. The luxury brand continued to build its EV momentum with the launch of a new variant of the LYRIQ all-electric SUV and a sneak peek at the all-new OPTIQ EV last November.
  • Buick had sales of over 517,000 units. Demand for its CENTURY flagship MPV and the Envision Plus SUV stayed strong. The brand sharpened its EV offensive through the introduction of its first Ultium-empowered models – the Electra E4 and Electra E5.
  • Chevrolet had deliveries of about 169,000 units last year. The Monza sedan remained the brand’s best-selling model. The Blazer SUV also posted strong growth momentum.
  • SAIC-GM-Wuling had deliveries of over 1.2 million units. It continued to expand its EV portfolio by adding popular new models that included the Baojun Yep, Baojun Yun Duo and Wuling Bin Guo. The Wuling brand strengthened its foothold in the passenger vehicle segment. The all-new Xing Guang plug-in hybrid EV started sales in November and had sales topping 10,000 units within two months.
